The Australian High Commission acts on behalf of the Australian Government to strengthen bilateral relations between the Republic of Maldives and Australia. We also provide a range of services, including consular and notarial services.
The Australian High Commission in Malé is supported by the Australian High Commission in Colombo to provide passport services.

MESSAGE FROM THE PRIME MINISTER
50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Australia and the Maldives
I send my warmest wishes as Australia and the Maldives celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations.
Since 1974, we’ve worked together to pursue common interests, and our relationship is underpinned by mutual respect and trust.
The opening of Australia’s High Commission in Malé last year further deepened our friendship, and reflects Australia’s increased engagement in the Indian Ocean region.
As neighbours in the region, Australia and the Maldives share a strong interest in a peaceful, stable and prosperous Indian Ocean, where countries can cooperate, trade and thrive.
Our friendship is strengthened by our shared belief in the power of education. Programs like the Australia Awards have supported more than 700 Maldivians to study in Australia and go on to work at the highest levels of government and business.
The Maldives is one of Australia’s valued partners, and I look forward to a productive relationship in the years ahead.
